EXCLUSIVE CONCESSION OF SAFARIS CHELET-ALIBORI SAFARIS SARL
This special area is reserved for the following game: Savannah’s Roan, Buffalo and Lion.
Hunting season: from 15st Decembre to 15th Avril
HUNTING AREA
Located in the north of Benin, the Djona area is next to the D.U.W. Reserve and the Alibori River, the hunting area consists of grassland with abundant highland bush and contains over 112,000 hectares (280,000 acres).
CLIMATE
Dry and warm, between 30°C (86° F) and 32°C (90° F) during the day but at night it can be as low as 15°C. (59° F) (January to March).From March 38°C (100° F) during the day.
HUNTING METHODS
The game is basically for Roan & Buffalo, Lion is always following the paw prints.
Hunting starts early in the morning and the approaches are conducted by thorough tracking. You will be hunting accompanied by a professional hunter, a native tracker and a bearer. Hunting transport is on 4x4 vehicles exclusively arranged for the hunters.
It is a sport’s game, so you have to keep fit.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is at the hunting camp within the Djona area, about 60 km from the large town of “Kandi”.
Hunters stay at the camp in the middle of the savannah.
The camp dwellings are typical African “payllotes”, furnished with mosquito nets and the following essential facilities: Shower and Toilet.
Every room has 1 or 2 beedrooms, mosquito nets, table and a place for the arms.

GETTING THERE
Air France offer scheduled flights to Cotonou, Benin. Transport to the camp is by air-conditioned vehicle on a paved road. The trip takes 9 hours. Some stops will be made at interesting villages along the way.
RECOMMENDED CLOTHING
• Cotton khaki trousers and shirt.
• Shorts.
• Sweater for the evenings and for December-January.
• Hat
• Thin cotton or woolen socks.
• A pair of comfortable worn in boots with hard soles for long treks.
• A pair of light tennis shoes for resting at the camp.
BASIC EQUIPMENT
• A pair of binoculars
• A pair of sunglasses
• A multi-use penknife and a hunter’s knife.
• First-aid kit for your personal use.
• Mosquito repellant.
• Your own camera and/or video camera.
• Torch,bulbs and batteries to spare

AUTHORIZED AMMUNITION PER WEAPON:
50 bullets per weapon. Max. 5 kg. Automatic weapons are prohibited
Air transport rules determine several restrictions regarding weapons and ammunition transportation to be followed in details, on penalty of air craft entering prohibition.
Very Important: If you are going to take your arms, do not forget to communicate to the airline company, when buying the airplane ticket, that took to arms, indicating the number of arms, model, number of the ammunition and measures of the ammunition and arms chests. Demand its travel agency verifies the conformity of the airline company and it gives copy to him of this authorization.
The weapon must be located in a rigid case, equipped with a lock and a key or a digits combination lock. It is absolutely not recommended to locate it inside of a suitcase, exactly as it is not recommended ever to take with oneself any of the elements of the weapon, the barrel support, the lock or the view-finder, which will be surely detected by the check in and will have to be transported at the luggage room. The risk of damage or loose would than be quite high. While starting a journey we recommend taking a folding kind of weapons, which could be easily located inside of a small, rigid and not very long suitcase. Your weapon will than be better protected, easier to be transported in a car back boot and on the airport luggage transportation carriage.
The ammunition must be located in a small, rigid suitcase, equipped with a lock. The total weight of this suitcase together with the inside must not exceed 5 kg. There exists a formal rule prohibiting transporting ammunition in the same case with a gun or with personal luggage. With regard on this we should be sure that no cartridge remained in our jacket or hunting vest, which we take with us.
Our piece of advice
Please mark your luggage visibly with a clearly filled in sticker attached to the suitcase handle, including your personal data.
In case a valuable weapon is being taken it should always be insured for the whole period of your stay. Please note that in case of a loss or damage, the aircraft companies pay only a small amount of the lost object back.
The European Arms Insurance Card
This card is compulsory in all European countries. You receive it at your local police station. All your insured pieces that you take along with you should be indicated on the list.
Our advice
Please have your card always with you during hunting also in countries where it is not compulsory. The customs officers can ask for it on your way back or passing through a country which is not your destination.
Automatic and semi-automatic firearms are forbidden.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
To enter Benin and to obtain Safari licenses:
• A valid passport.
• Visa issued by the Benin Consulate
• Special documents required for the gun and hunting permits.
• Certificate of vaccination against yellow fever
• Insurance of hunt R.C. in Benin and emergency medical evacuation insurance (required). Please ask the safari company.
• Very Important: If you are going to take your arms, do not forget to communicate to the airline company, when buying the airplane ticket, that took to arms, indicating the number of arms, model, number of the ammunition and measures of the ammunition and arms chests. Demand its travel agency verifies the conformity of the airline company and it gives copy to him of this authorization.
• It either do not forget to pay to the rate of circulation and aerial transport of weapon of his country.
Visa procedures require:
• 2 photographs.
• 2 forms duly filled in (we have copies available).
• Certificate of vaccination against yellow fever. We recommend you obtain vaccination against tetanus, malaria’s prophylaxis and to follow the advice of your personal physician. (We also recommend that you bring your own personal medication.)
Documents required for firearm import and hunting licenses:
• Form for the gun import license.
• Copies of the Guide to Guns.
• 4 photographs
• 2 passport photocopy – (including the visa for Benin)
The company will send you in advance all the forms to be filled in.
The above documents and photographs, as well as your passport details, must be submitted well one mounth before your departure for your destination.If the documments are not available you can not cath the arms at your arrival.
NORMAL SCHEDULE
1st Day: Arrival at Cotonou. Collection upon arrival at the airport and assistance with entry formalities. Transfer to the hotel
2nd Day: Transfer to your camp destination. Comfortable clothes are recommended for this trip. We go to the camp by car (8 hours), the price is included.
3ª -9º OR 12º.Hunting Days: Stay at camp full board.
8th or 11th. Transfer from the camp to the airport.
BUSINESS TERMS:
SAFARI’S AIM: Big game Safari starts and ends at the camp, but the transfer from the airport to the camp are included (see Normal Schedule)
SERVICES: The haunting program give details about the included and not included services, and also available animals and the rest of conditions.
DEPOSITS: A safari is booked and confirmed only upon receipt of a deposit of 50% of the safari cost.
BALANCE: The balance of the safari fees is due no later than 30 days prior to the start of the safari. The rest of packing, tips, will be paid at the camp.
HUNTING LICENSES & FIREARMS PERMITS: The cost of the hunting license and firearms permits must be paid at least 30 days prior to the start of the safari.
DOCUMENTS: The program details all the documents, please take with you the documents and do not forget to advise the air company about the arms.
INSURANCE: You are not covered by any insurance, and you are advised that you and your property be fully covered by insurance for the duration of the safari. You are required to have emergency medical evacuation insurance to cover your safari. Sportsmen’s Travel Insurance and other companies offer coverage for trip cancellation, emergency medical evacuation, travel delays, loss or damage of personal property and more. Please ask to the company for a brochure.
HEALTH: Certificate of vaccination against yellow fever, and it is compulsory to take the malaria’s prophylaxis (ask for information in your country)
LIABILITY: A level of risk is involved in African safaris, and while the Company takes all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and satisfaction of clients, the Company does not accept any Liability for any accidents, illness, death, or for any damage to or loss of property, before, during or after the safari. It is your sole responsibility to take all appropriate medical advise prior to departure, as to whether you are fit enough to undertake the trip booked.
Furthermore, the Company reserves a fixed period for each safari and no refund will be made for any time lost due to internal or international travel. By booking your safari and paying a deposit, you are deemed to have accepted these conditions.
CANCELATIONS: If you cancel the Safari you will lost the deposit.
Making a Safari’s booking and paying the deposit, involves that you know and accept all the terms and conditions included in this program.
